Welcome to the Counterintuitive Marketing Hall of Fame and Shame: The Copernicus Marketing Consulting Showcase of the Best and Worst Examples of Modern Marketing

Four years ago, we opened the doors, so to speak, to a museum of sorts where CEOs, CMOs, and fledgling marketers of all ages could see—in all their glory—contemporary cases of marketing blockbusters and disasters. Marketers of every age and industry can now visit a virtual place of honor that celebrates marketing at its very best and embarrassing worst.

Hall of Famers have achieved great success by recognizing the importance of marketing to driving business growth, taking the time and making the effort to make sound decision regarding fundamental strategic elements, such as targeting and positioning. Hall of Shamers are the complete opposite. Marketing is a haphazard process, characterized by intuition-driven best guesses. These companies inevitably encounter declining performance, damaged brands, and product flops.

Since opening the Hall to the public in 2001, we've welcomed a fresh crop of inductees each year. This year, we welcome 12 new members, among them an international sporting apparel firm, the largest printer of paper checks in the world, a "green" consumer packaged goods company, a cult brand, a software firm, and a financial services juggernaut.
